The secret world of Maggie Grey - Granger
Review by Zuwena

I’m kind of struggling to articulate how I felt about this book. I can tell you that I loved it but I can’t really tell you why. It’s the vibessss. It’s one of those books where you’re just going with the flow and enjoying the ride. I’d honestly say it was over before I knew it.
Okay let me try to do a better job. So imagine any fantasy or mythical creature, they exist in this world. It’s another world that exists parallel to the human world consisting of black people with some sort of powers. Maggie has lived her whole life in the ‘normal’ world when one day her whole life is turned upside down. She’s told there’s this whole other life that she’s supposed to be part of and she knew nothing about. So that’s what this story is about.
Now there are multiple POVs in the book which threw me off at first. To me that just means everyone’s a main character in their own way. What’s I’d say is we’re just as confused as Maggie throughout the whole book. We’re learning as she’s learning. I should also clarify that it’s a series so that’s partly why I’m not worried about the confusion. I think it’ll all start coming together from the next book.
Normally I wouldn’t say you should continue with a book if you weren’t getting the plot but in this one the vibes made up for it. I had fun reading it and that’s what reading is about. So yes, I’m vouching for this one. Hopefully I’ll keep doing so after reading the sequel.
If I was to describe the book in one sentence I’d say; It’s a fever dream you don’t want to wake up from.
I hope I’ve done a good job of advocating for this book.
